What happens when a Student Account becomes Inactive?
Student Accounts are considered "inactive" when the following is true:
- The student has not logged into or otherwise used their Student Account in 365 days
If this is true, then the Student Account will be deleted.
Note, however, that some content within a Student Account will be kept after deletion of the account for school legal compliance reasons (e.g. maintenance of “education records” under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) or “Student Data” under state student privacy laws or similar laws in international jurisdictions) as is further set forth here. However, this data is hidden from view when a Student Account is deleted, as set forth here. If a parent would like this content deleted, please put in a request to your child’s school. Additionally, if a teacher would like this deleted and the school determines that the request should be implemented, the school may submit the request to delete this content to ClassDojo by contacting us here. If we receive a valid request from the school, we will delete this content unless the parent has previously instructed ClassDojo to keep Student-Generated Content longer as part of their account.
What happens when an Outside School Child Account becomes inactive?

- The Outside School Child has not logged into or otherwise used their Outside School Child Account in 365 days
- A parent or guardian associated with the Outside School Child Account has also not logged in to their account or their child’s Outside School Child Account in 365 days
If all of these are true, then the Outside School Child Account and associated personal information and content will be deleted - unless the parent has previously instructed ClassDojo to keep this information longer. *Note that we may contact either (or both) the parent or Outside School Child prior to deletion to allow them to maintain their account.
What happens when an Outside School Account (non-child) becomes inactive?
Outside School Accounts (non-child) are considered "inactive" when the following is true:
- The Outside School User (non-child) holder has not logged into or otherwise used their Outside School Account (non-child) for three years after the connected Student and Outside School Child Account becomes inactive
If this is true, then the Outside School Account and associated personal information and content will be deleted - unless the Outside School User has previously instructed ClassDojo to keep this information longer. *Note that we may contact the Outside School User prior to deletion to allow them to maintain their account.
