Invite Families to ClassDojo

Getting families connected to your ClassDojo classroom is easier than ever! Whether you prefer email, text, QR codes, or printable invites, you've got flexible ways to connect families to your class and keep everyone engaged in their student's learning journey.

Here are four ways to invite families to your class:

🖨 Print Individual Invites

Individual invites include each student's unique Parent Code and QR code, making it easy for families to connect.

To print individual invites:

  1. Open your class.
  2. Click Invite Families.
  3. Click Individual printouts.
  4. Download and print the PDF.

Each student's printout includes:

  • A unique Parent Code (7–9 digits)
  • A QR code that families can scan

💡 Families can either enter their Parent Code or scan the QR code to connect to their student's profile and your class.

📧 Invite via Email, Text, or In-Person QR Code

You can invite a family member by email, text message, or, if you're together in person, by having them scan a QR code for their student.

To invite a family member:

  1. Open your class.
  2. Click Invite Families.
  3. Select the student whose family member you'd like to invite.
  4. Click + Connect a parent.
  5. Enter the family member's email address or phone number.

📩  We’ll send them an invite to join your class and create (or log into) their account.

:warning: Note: Even if you send a text, families still need an email to create their account.

Seeing a family member in person? In the ClassDojo teacher app on iOS, this same screen shows a QR code just for that student. Ask the family member to scan it with their phone's camera, and they'll connect to their child on the spot.

🔗 Share a Class Link

A Class Link lets families request to join your class on their own.

To share your Class Link:

  1. Open your class.
  2. Click Invite Families.
  3. Scroll to the bottom of the panel and click Share a link.
  4. Copy and share the link with families.

Families can use the link to request to connect to their student. You or a co-teacher will need to approve their request before they're connected.

📱 Use a Class QR Code

The Class QR Code is perfect for events like Back-to-School Night or Meet the Teacher.

To access it:

  1. Open your class.
  2. Click Invite Families.
  3. Scroll to the bottom of the page.
  4. Click Class QR code.

From here, you have two options:

1. Display the QR code on your screen

Click Display code to show the QR code on your screen or projector. Families can scan it with their phone's camera, select their student, and join your class immediately.

By default, families connect right away—no approval is required.

A few things to know:

  • Turn on Approve each join request if you'd like to review each connection before families join.
  • The displayed QR code automatically expires after 7 days, so there's nothing you need to turn off later.

2. Download the class printout

Click Download class printout to download a printable QR code for your entire class. The printout is available in multiple languages.

When families scan the printed QR code, they'll submit a connection request. You'll need to approve each request before they're connected to your class.
