How ClassDojo complies with GDPR

Is ClassDojo General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) Compliant?

Yes. We take our commitment to your privacy and data protection seriously; that's why every ClassDojo product is designed with privacy and security first, including  GDPR since it went into effect on May 25, 2018.

Privacy

  • This page breaks down in detailed categories exactly what information we collect for each type of user, the sources we use to collect that information, where it’s stored, and how it is used.
  • This page shows a full list of third-party services we partner with to provide the ClassDojo Service and what information we share with each.

Security:

  • We use security industry best practices to protect personal information, including using encryption and other security safeguards to protect personal information.
  • For more information, please see our Security Center.

Control:

  • ClassDojo processes personal information both as a Processor and as a Controller, as defined in the GDPR or other applicable privacy laws. When the ClassDojo Services are used in connection with school use, ClassDojo acts as a Processor (or service provider as defined under other applicable privacy laws) and we will process personal information, including Student Data, only at the direction and control of the school. Additionally, ClassDojo will only delete personal information and Student Data or education records per the school’s specific instructions. As a student or teacher (or parent making a request about a student’s personal information), you should direct any requests for access, correction or deletion of personal information through the school as further detailed here. If we receive a request relating to personal data that we hold on behalf of a school acting as the data Controller, we will either refer you to the school or handle the request directly if authorized by the school.
  • ClassDojo will generally be the Controller when Teachers, School Leaders, Admins, and parents enter personal information directly into our Service.  This does not include personal information provided by Teachers, School Leaders, Admins, and parents through their school-related use of the ClassDojo Services (e.g., messages, posts).

Parents or Outside School Child Users use our Service (including certain Premium Features, Home Island, Family Chat and Family Communities) not in connection with school us.

  • We retain the data we collect for different periods of time depending on what it is, how we use it, and how you configure your settings. You can read more about ClassDojo’s data retention periods, including how long it takes us to delete your information here.
