How does Google Login work?

Students

Students can log in to their ClassDojo accounts using multiple methods, including Google Login.

When using Google Login, teachers must provide students with a Google Signup code, which is a unique 6-character code specific to the class. The student will go to "dojo.me" in a browser, tap Sign in with Google, and go through the Google authentication process to log into their Google account and grant ClassDojo permission to access their email address.

After logging in with Google, the student will be prompted to select which student profile they are in order to link their Google account to the correct student account. Once this link is made, the student’s Google account will always log in to that same student profile.

If you, as a teacher, choose to allow your students to log in using their Google for Education or other Google accounts, you are responsible for educating them on safe login practices. This includes encouraging two-factor authentication to help protect their Google accounts.

Please note: ClassDojo does not request or store passwords associated with any Google Logins.

Privacy Note:
When a student uses Google Login, ClassDojo temporarily collects the student’s email address to support the login and account-linking process. If the student does not complete signup by entering a valid class code, their email address will be automatically deleted after a short time period via an internal deletion job.

  • Before deletion, these email addresses are not hashed.

  • If the account is successfully linked, the email is then hashed and stored securely.

  • This information is not used for any other purpose.

Parents

Parents can log in to their ClassDojo accounts using multiple methods, including Google Login.

If you decide to register for a ClassDojo account through an authentication service such as Google Login, we may collect personal information that is already associated with your connected authentication service. You give us permission to use and store this information consistent with our Privacy Policy.

By using Google Login, parents must provide their name and email address and consent to this information being shared with the Teacher that the parent is requesting to connect with (in order to help the teacher validate the parent and/or family user).

We recommend reviewing the authentication service’s terms of use and privacy policies before using their services and connecting to ClassDojo. You can revoke our access to your account on the authentication service at any time by updating the appropriate settings in that service.
