How can I report inappropriate content that I see on ClassDojo?

We do our best to keep ClassDojo safe, but there may be times when you come across content that could be inappropriate or otherwise a violation of our Acceptable Use and Conduct guidelines. We’ve put together this guide to help you decide what next steps you should take, depending on who you are and what you’re seeing.

Students

Students should notify their teacher or school leader if they see inappropriate content within their student account, Portfolio, Class Story, or in Dojo Class Islands. If the teacher does not remove the inappropriate content, please ask your parent or legal guardian to contact your teacher.

Families

If the content you want to report is a Class or School Story post or comment, a student Portfolio post or comment, or a Dojo Class Islands creation, then please first flag the content for your student’s teacher or a school leader so they can remove it swiftly. If the school has not resolved the issue or you have reported the content and you still believe that inappropriate content exists, please fill out this form to report the content to our team.

Please note that we can’t remove content that may be considered an “educational record” under FERPA or “student data” under various state student privacy laws - though we will remove purely objectionable or inappropriate content if the school has not appropriately addressed this.

In the event the content you’re concerned about was posted by your own account, you may be able to delete it yourself. This includes:

  • Chat messages
  • Comments on Story or Portfolio posts

If you would like to block another user from sending you a chat, please see these steps.

Schools

There are a number of moderation capabilities already available for teachers, school leaders, and any other school user on ClassDojo.

  • All school users should be able to delete any of the content created by their own account (e.g. a Story post, Chat, comment, etc.). They can also block another user from sending them a chat.
  • All teachers should additionally be able to delete any Portfolio posts, Portfolio comments, or Class Story comments made by parents or students in their classes. See this article for more information on this, as well as how to disable comments completely. Teachers can also clear creations made by students in their Dojo Class Island.
  • All school leaders and ClassDojo Admins should be able to delete any School Story posts and comments, as well as disable comment access completely - as outlined in this article. They should also be able to take the same actions as teachers in the previous bullet point for any of the classes they’ve joined.

If there is inappropriate content that falls outside of your school’s moderation capabilities, please fill out this form to report the content to our team.
