Keeping a record of your communications is important for maintaining clear and organized interactions with parents and students. ClassDojo allows teachers to easily download a full message history with any class or parent you have ever exchanged messages with on the ClassDojo website. Even if a student has been removed from your class or school or a parent has deleted their account, you will still have access to these messages in your account. This feature ensures you have a comprehensive record of all your conversations, making it easy to review past communications when needed. Follow these steps to learn how to download your message history on ClassDojo!
If you are a School Leader, you can request the message history of any parent or teacher by submitting a request here.

Here's how:
- Click on this link to access your account.
- Click on your avatar at the top right of the screen and open your account settings
- Open the "Messaging" section and scroll down to download your Message history
- In the following pop-up, select whether or not to include attachments in this download
- You will see a confirmation banner that reads, "Request received. We'll email you when your messages are ready to download."
- An email will be sent to the email address associated with your account that contains a zip file with all your messages.
Please note:
- The email that includes your message history will not be sent instantly. It can take several minutes to prepare before it sends.
- This download is currently separated into folders for schools and classes. In the class folder, you should be able to find a transcript of every active chat in the class.
- Messages in inactive threads (i.e. when a user has been blocked, removed from the class, or has deleted their account) will be contained in a separate folder called "Inactive chats."
