How Do I Edit a School Directory?

Editing your School Directory on ClassDojo is simple and helps keep your school community up-to-date and connected! School Leaders and teachers with admin permissions can add students to the School Directory, make necessary edits, and approve new teachers and school staff. Whether you’re using the web, iOS, or Android device, managing your School Directory is a breeze. Follow the steps below to learn how to edit the School Directory and keep your school organized and engaged!

Please note:

  • Students added directly to the Directory will be under the "No Current Classes" section; once students are imported into a class, they will move to the correct grade level within the Directory.
  • Students will automatically be added to the School Directory as long as the teacher is school-approved when adding them to their class. If you have a class where students weren't added to the School Directory, please submit a support request here

From the Web

To add a student to the School Directory from the web:

  1. Click on the "School Directory" tab, then on the "Students" tab
  2. Click on the "Add Students" button
  3. Add students with First and Last names 
  4. Click "Done adding students"

To edit or remove students from your School Directory from the web:

  1. Click on the "School Directory" tab, then on the "Students" tab
  2. Use the "Search by name" line to enter the name of the student you'd like to edit. Then click on the matching student from the list generated below
  3. Click on the student's name to bring up a pop-up box. From here, you can edit the student's first and last name, add or remove parent connections, or remove the student from the school

From the App

To add a student to the School Directory from the app:
  1. From your dashboard, tap on your school's name

  2. Select the "School Directory" button at the bottom of the screen  
  3. Tap on the "Students" tab
  4. Tap on the "+ Add student" button at the top of the Directory
  5. Enter the student's first and last name
  6. Tap "Add"

To edit or remove students from your School Directory from the app:

  1. From your dashboard, tap on your school's name

  2. Select the "School Directory" button at the bottom of the screen   
  3. Use the magnifying glass in the top right corner to search for the student you'd like to edit or scroll down to find the student in the list below. Note: Search results will be sorted into the following categories: School Staff, Students, and Classes.
  4. Tap on the student's name, then on "Edit student"

  5. Tap on the name line to edit the student's name and select "Save" when you're finished editing
