School Leaders and staff members with Admin permissions have the ability to manage information listed in the School Directory. From the Staff tab, you can invite new staff members to join your school, remove former staff members from your school, grant Admin permissions, and more!
On the Web 💻
To access your school’s Directory:
- Log in at classdojo.com.

Click Directory on the left of your screen.
From here, you can:
Invite Staff Members to Join Your School
- Click the "Invite Staff" button on the right side of your screen

Choose how to send the invite(s):
- Copy and share a link
- Send via text or email
- Upload a list to invite in bulk
Sent invitations will show up in the "Pending" section, where you'll be able to resend or cancel invitations.

Tip- You can use the “Select all” option to bulk resend or cancel invitations.
Approve or Decline Staff Connection Requests
Requests from staff members to join your school will appear in the Needs Approval section. You can:
- Click “Accept” to connect a staff member to your school, granting them access to the School Directory and School Story.
- Click “Decline” if the requested user should not have access to your school on ClassDojo.
If you decline a request by mistake, reach out to our Support Team- we’re here to help!
Remove Staff Members
If a staff member is no longer a part of your school’s community, you can remove them from your school’s Directory to ensure that they no longer have access to your school on ClassDojo.
School Leader, Principal, and Assistant Principal accounts can remove other school leader type accounts, teacher accounts, and school staff accounts from the Directory.
Teacher and School Staff accounts with Admin permissions can remove other teacher accounts and school staff accounts from the Directory.
- Search for the name of the staff member or scroll to find them in the Directory.
- Click the checkbox to the left of the staff member’s name or the three dots (⋯) to the right of their name.

Select "Remove from school".
If the staff member owns any active classes, you can either:
- Transfer the classes to yourself or another school-approved staff member
- Archive the classes
Tip: Need to remove multiple staff members? Use the checkboxes to the left of the staff members’ names to select multiple staff members at once!
For schools in ClassDojo Partner Districts, your District Leaders will automatically be connected to your school's Directory. District Leader accounts cannot be removed from individual School Directories at this time.
Grant or Revoke Admin Permissions
If there is a staff member at your school who should have access to manage the School Directory and moderate the School Story, you can grant them Admin permissions from the Directory.
School Leader, Principal, and Assistant Principal accounts can grant and revoke Admin permissions from other school leader type accounts, teacher accounts, and school staff accounts.
Teacher and School Staff accounts with Admin permissions can grant and revoke Admin permissions from other teacher and school staff accounts.
To grant Admin access to a school-approved staff member:
- Click the checkbox to the left of their name or the three dots (⋯) to the right of their name
- Select "Make Admin" to grant Admin permissions.
To revoke Admin permissions, follow the same steps, but click Revoke Admin Status.
For schools in ClassDojo Partner Districts, your District Leaders may be automatically granted Admin permissions in your school's Directory. You cannot revoke Admin permissions from District Leader accounts at this time.
Start a Staff Chat
- Use the checkboxes to select the staff members to include in the thread.
- Click Start Chat to open a new Staff Chat thread.
On the Apps📱
To access your school’s Directory on the app:
Open your School Directory
- On iOS, you can do this by tapping the "School" option at the bottom of the screen and then selecting "Directory" from the top
- On Android, you can do this by tapping the name of your school in your launchpad and then selecting the "Directory" tab at the bottom of your screen
From here, you can:
Invite Staff Members to Join Your School
- Tap "Invite teachers or staff" at the top of the screen.
- Share the link or send email invites.
Pending invites will show under the "Pending Invites" section. Tap the three dots (⋯) across from an invitation to cancel or resend the invitation.

Remove Staff Members or Start a Staff Chat
- Tap on a staff member’s name or tap the three dots “...” across from their name.

Select “Remove from school” to remove the staff member from your school.
- Any active classes owned by this staff member will no longer have an owner, but they'll still appear in your Directory and can be transferred to another staff member on the ClassDojo website!
- Select “Start chat” to start a chat with the staff member
