As the school year wraps up, here’s your quick guide to updating your Directory. These steps will help ensure that your school starts the new year with the right classes, students, and connections!
1. Students
Graduating and removing students will ensure that former families are no longer seeing new updates for your school on ClassDojo. Additionally, when students are graduated or removed from your Directory, they can no longer be added to new classes at your school.
🎓 Graduate Students
When students have finished their career at your school by completing the last grade offered and are moving on to a new school next year, we suggest graduating their profiles from your school's Directory!
Here's how you can graduate students:
1. Log in to your account on the website
2. Click on "Directory" on the left of your screen
3. Click on the "Students" tab
4. Find the grade level of students who should be graduated, then click "Show more"
5. Click "Select all" and deselect students, as needed
6. Click "Graduate" at the bottom of the page to graduate the students.
🗂️ Remove Students
If there are students who are not returning to your school and have not completed the last grade offered, we suggest removing them from the Directory instead.
Here's how you can remove students:
1. Log in to your account on the website
2. Click on "Directory" on the left of your screen
3. Click on the "Students" tab
4. Search for the students who should be removed
*Tip- use the check boxes to the left of the students' names to select multiple students*
5. Click "Remove" at the bottom of the page to remove the students.
2. Classes
📚 Archive This Year’s Classes
You'll want to archive any classes that were used this school year to hide them from view. Archiving classes will close parent and teacher messaging threads within the classes and will help teachers start fresh next school year! There are two ways to archive the classes:
Teachers can archive their own classes following these steps:
1. Log in to your Teacher account on the website.
2. Open your class.
3. Click Options → Finish Class → Archive
A School Leader or ClassDojo Admin can archive all classes from the Directory
1. Log in to your account on the website
2. Click on "Directory" on the left of your screen
3. Click on the "Classes" tab
4. Click "Select all" for each grade level.
5. Click "Archive classes" at the bottom of the screen.
3. Staff
🧑🏫 Remove Departing Staff Members
Any staff members who will not be returning to your school next year should be removed from the Directory. Removing the staff member will remove their access to the School Directory, School Story, and any classes connected to your school.
Here's how you can remove departing staff members:
1. Log in to your account on the website
2. Click on "Directory" on the left of your screen
3. Click on the "Staff" tab
4. Under "“Active Staff” and “Inactive Staff”, click “Show more”
5. Scroll through the list and select any staff members who will not be returning to your school
6. Click “Remove from school” at the bottom of the screen.
If these staff members have any classes that have not yet been archived, you can choose to transfer ownership of the class to another staff member or yourself.
Once ownership has been transferred, you can archive the classes in the Directory following the steps above.
🔐 Confirm Login Credentials
Confirm that any remaining staff members listed in the Directory are using the correct email addresses for next school year.

If a staff member is using a personal email, encourage them to update it to their school-issued email.

If your school’s domain is changing, staff should switch to their new district email.
