Unsure if you should create a Teacher account or a School Leader account? Learn about the different roles and permissions below to ensure that you create the correct account type!
Roles
Teacher or School Staff Account - School-approved teachers and school staff members can access the School Directory and post to the School Story. Learn how to become school-approved here.
School Leader Account - School-approved School Leader accounts (Principal, Assistant Principal, and School Leader) are designated account types for Principals, Vice Principals, Deans, District leaders, etc. School Leaders can manage their School Directory, including:
- Approving and declining teacher requests to join your School
- Removing teachers who are no longer at your school and transferring ownership of their active classes to another teacher
- Adding, Merging, and Removing students
- Request a teacher's message history with a specific parent or all parents in a specific class.
- Moderate the School Story
- And more! Learn all about what School Leaders can see and do here.
Permissions
We understand that every school operates differently. Some Principals like to manage everything on ClassDojo for their school while other Principals want to designate the admin responsibilities to a few staff members at their school. Because of this, we created admin permissions that can be added to any teacher or school staff account with permission from the school's leader.
Please note: All School Leader roles (Principal, Assistant Principal, School Leader) automatically come with admin permissions.
Admin permissions - Admin permissions allow a staff member to manage their School Directory and moderate the School Story. Learn about the admin permissions here.
Mentors - ClassDojo Mentors do not have admin permissions added to their account automatically. Instead, Mentors are school-approved teachers who love ClassDojo and would like access to more resources outside of School. Mentors can gain access to Mentor Missions, test out new features, and can join our Mentor Facebook group. Being a Mentor is all about sharing the ClassDojo love with your school community.
